Academic corporations
Academic corporation (student corporation) - an association gathering students and graduates of a university with certain goals, ideals and a desire for self-improvement. The external signs of belonging are usually a cap (the so-called lid, Polish "dekiel"), a sash (the so-called banda) and a monogram (the so-called compass, Polish "cyrkiel"). Lids and bands usually consists of three colors (German: Couleur). Colors, having specific symbolism, identify a given corporation.
